Island Glass Company fabricates custom glass table tops and desk covers for homes, offices, and restaurants across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. Whether you need a clear protective overlay on a wood table, a tempered replacement top for a patio dining set, or a decorative piece with a polished beveled edge, we cut, edge, and deliver it on demand.
What we fabricate
- Protective overlays — clear glass tops laid on top of wood or stone tables to protect the surface from rings, heat, and scratches
- Dining table tops — full replacement tops, tempered for safety, in rectangle, square, round, oval, or custom shapes
- Coffee and side table tops — thinner glass typically 1/4 or 3/8-inch, in the same shape options
- Desk protectors — clear glass over wood desks for executive offices
- Patio and outdoor table tops — tempered glass replacement for outdoor dining sets where the original broke
Glass options and edges
Most table tops are 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch tempered glass for strength. For protective overlays where the underlying table carries the weight, we go as thin as 1/4-inch. Edge finishes available:
- Flat polish — clean 90-degree polished edge
- Pencil polish — softly rounded edge, comfortable to the touch
- Beveled — angled edge, typical 1-inch bevel, for decorative pieces
- Ogee — sculpted decorative edge for formal dining tables
Corners can be square, radiused (rounded), clipped, or custom-shaped to match the base.
Glass type
- Clear tempered — standard, maximum transparency
- Low-iron — removes the green tint and reads truly colorless, preferred for light wood tables
- Frosted or acid-etched — soft translucent look, hides fingerprints
- Bronze or gray tinted — for a design accent
Every top gets a final inspection for scratches, chips, and edge quality before we deliver.
