Island Glass Company builds and installs secure glass transaction windows for banks, credit unions, medical clinics, pharmacies, dental offices, cash-handling retail, and reception desks across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. A transaction window separates staff from visitors while still allowing clear communication and secure exchange of documents or payment.
What we install
- Speak-through windows — framed glass windows with an integrated speak-thru grille or voice amplifier so staff and visitors can hear each other clearly without opening the glass
- Deal trays — stainless steel or polished aluminum trays set below the window so customers can slide documents, cards, or cash under the glass
- Sliding transaction windows — horizontal sliding glass panels for pickup and drop-off windows, common in pharmacies and medical offices
- Pass-through drawers — drawers that cycle on a lock so only one side is open at a time, for cash-handling and high-security applications
- Full bandit barriers — combined systems of ballistic glass, deal trays, and pass-through hardware for banks, check-cashing, and dispensaries
Glass specs
Transaction window glass is typically laminated or bullet-resistant, not just tempered. Specs depend on threat level:
- Laminated safety glass — 1/2-inch or 9/16-inch laminated (two lites with a PVB or SGP interlayer), resists impact and stays in place if broken
- Bullet-resistant (UL-752) glass — rated Level 1 through Level 8 depending on the caliber and number of rounds it is designed to stop
- Acrylic and polycarbonate — lighter-weight alternatives for lower threat levels or where weight matters
Where this works
- Bank teller stations
- Dispensary reception and sales windows
- Medical and dental reception desks
- Pharmacy pickup windows
- Courthouse and government reception
- Cash-handling retail (check cashing, pawn, jewelry)
