Island Glass Company fabricates and installs custom mirrors for bathrooms, closets, home gyms, dance studios, retail showrooms, and commercial fitness centers across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. Every mirror is cut to size on order, edged to the finish you want, and installed with adhesive, J-channel, or decorative clips.
What we install
- Vanity mirrors — single large pieces or paired over double sinks, cut to fit above the backsplash with a polished or beveled edge
- Full-length wall mirrors — floor-to-ceiling installations for foyers, dressing areas, and bedrooms
- Gym and studio mirrors — 1/4-inch float glass mirrors installed in long runs on J-channel, typical dimensions up to 96 inches tall by any length
- Closet and wardrobe mirrors — fixed or sliding, framed or frameless
- Framed mirrors — wood, metal, or custom-finish frames built to match the room
- Decorative and specialty mirrors — antique, smoked, bronze tint, and patterned
- Safety-backed mirrors — vinyl-backed or laminated mirrors for gyms and commercial spaces where break safety matters
Mirror specs
Standard residential mirrors are 1/4-inch thick with a silver-nitrate backing and a protective copper-free or copper coating sealed with an epoxy paint. Edge finishes include:
- Flat polish — clean square edge, the standard for most vanity and wall mirrors
- Beveled — angled cut at the perimeter, typical 1-inch bevel, for a more decorative look
- Pencil polish — rounded edge, soft feel
- Miter-polished corners — for L-shaped installations
For gyms, studios, and any wall-mounted mirror above shoulder height, we specify safety-backed glass (with a vinyl film or laminate behind the mirror) so that if it ever breaks, the pieces stay on the backing.
Where mirrors matter
A well-specified and well-installed mirror changes a room more than almost any other glass product. In a small bathroom, a wall-to-wall mirror doubles the visual size. In a gym, clean mirrors are a form-check tool athletes depend on. In retail, a large back-wall mirror adds depth and makes the sales floor feel twice as large.
Installation process
Most mirrors are installed in half a day. We template the wall, cut the glass in the shop to the exact dimensions, and deliver it on the install day. Adhesive installations use mirror-safe mastic and mechanical support clips. J-channel installs anchor a continuous trim at the bottom and a J-shaped channel at the top, ideal for long gym runs. Clip installations use polished chrome or brass rosettes for a decorative look.
For electrical outlets or light fixtures that fall in the middle of a mirror, we cut clean rectangular holes in the shop, polished on the inside. Every install finishes with a full wipe-down and a clean sightline check from every angle.
