Island Glass Company installs patio sliding doors and French swing patio doors for homes across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. A patio door is one of the largest glass units in the house and one of the most used — so it has to seal tightly, roll or swing smoothly, and carry the right glass for the exposure.
What we install
- Two-panel sliding doors (XO or OX) — the most common configuration, one fixed panel and one sliding
- Three-panel sliders (XOX or OXO) — wider openings where more glass is needed
- Four-panel sliders — for big-window rooms opening to a deck or patio
- French patio swing doors — two hinged out-swinging or in-swinging panels
- Multi-slide “pocket” doors — three, four, or five panels that stack or disappear into a wall pocket, for indoor-outdoor living
- Lift-and-slide and folding glass walls — premium systems for high-end residential openings
We work with both vinyl and aluminum frame manufacturers including Milgard, Anlin, Andersen, and Western Window Systems, and can match an existing system for a like-for-like replacement.
Glass and performance
Patio door glass is dual-pane insulating glass, tempered for safety on every lite by code. Typical performance:
- U-factor: 0.30 or lower for Title 24 compliance
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient: 0.23-0.28 on west and south exposures
- Low-E coating: standard on all new installations
- Argon gas fill: standard for dual-pane units
For oceanfront and hillside exposures we specify impact-rated glass or upgraded weather seals.
Installation
Patio door replacements typically run a full day. We remove the old door, clean and re-flash the opening, set the new frame in square and plumb, adjust the sliding or swing operation, and trim out. Every install includes a test of the rollers, locks, and weatherstripping, and a full cleaning before we leave.
