Storefront Doors

Island Glass Company installs and repairs heavy-duty commercial storefront doors for retail, restaurants, and office buildings across Whittier and Southern California.

Storefront Doors

Island Glass Company installs, rebuilds, and repairs commercial storefront doors for retail shops, restaurants, medical offices, and multi-tenant buildings across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. A storefront door runs through thousands of open-close cycles a week and takes the brunt of customer traffic, so the hardware, glass, and frame all need to be spec’d for the abuse.

What we install

  • Medium-stile aluminum doors — the most common commercial entry door, balanced between sight lines and hardware capacity. Takes a standard lockset and most panic devices.
  • Wide-stile aluminum doors — reinforced stiles for heavy hardware, panic bars, and electric strikes on high-traffic entries.
  • Narrow-stile aluminum doors — slim modern profiles for design-driven storefronts.
  • Herculite-style all-glass doors — 1/2-inch or 3/4-inch tempered glass doors for high-end lobbies and showrooms (also see “All Glass Doors and Walls”).

Doors are matched to the existing storefront framing system. We carry Kawneer, YKK AP, EFCO, and CRL product lines and can cross to equivalents when we need to match a legacy installation.

Hardware

Storefront doors live or die by their hardware. We install and service:

  • Closers — overhead concealed, surface-mounted, and floor-mounted
  • Pivots and continuous hinges — with adjustable top pivots so a sagging door can be realigned
  • Panic devices — crossbar, concealed vertical rod, and rim devices, ADA and fire code compliant
  • Locksets and deadbolts — including MS1850 hookbolts and electric strikes
  • Thresholds and weatherstripping — ADA-compliant thresholds and replacement weather seals

Repairs and rebuilds

Most storefront door service calls come down to a failed closer, a broken pivot, a misaligned panic device, or a cracked corner. We rebuild in place when we can and full-replace when the stiles are past rescue. Emergency board-up and glass-out service is available if a door was vandalized or broken into overnight.

Storefront Doors — FAQs

What bulletproof glass ratings do you install? +

Island Glass Company installs UL-752 rated ballistic glazing from Level 1 (9mm handgun) through Level 8 (7.62mm rifle) for transaction windows, cashier enclosures, and security doors. Most retail and cannabis applications use Level 3 laminated acrylic or polycarbonate composites, while banks and dispensaries often specify Level 4 or higher. We help you match the rating to your threat profile during the design consultation.

Are your commercial storefronts ADA compliant? +

Yes. Our commercial storefront systems are installed to current ADA standards, including 32-inch minimum clear door width, maximum 5-pound opening force on interior doors, compliant threshold heights, and lever-style hardware mounted between 34 and 48 inches above the floor. We coordinate with your general contractor or architect to make sure the entire entrance package passes final inspection.

How long does a commercial storefront installation take? +

Most single-storefront projects take 2 to 4 weeks from measure to install: roughly 10 to 15 business days for aluminum framing and glass fabrication, followed by 1 to 3 days of on-site installation depending on size. Emergency board-ups and same-week temporary glazing are available if your existing storefront was damaged.

Do you install transaction windows for pharmacies and dispensaries? +

Yes. We fabricate and install secure transaction windows with laminated or UL-752 ballistic glazing, stainless deal trays, and speak-through grilles for pharmacies, dispensaries, cash-heavy retail, and municipal counters. Typical installs pair a fixed security pane with a sliding or pass-through unit so your staff can serve customers without compromising protection.
