Island Glass Company installs professional architectural window film on homes, offices, and storefronts across Whittier and the surrounding Southern California cities. The right film cuts heat and glare without blocking the view, adds privacy without replacing glass, and can reinforce windows against break-ins.
What we install
- Solar control (heat rejection) film — reduces solar heat gain by 50-80%, drops interior temperatures, and lowers cooling bills. Essential on west- and south-facing exposures in Southern California.
- Low-E films — improves insulation through existing single-pane and older dual-pane windows, keeping heat in during cool months.
- Privacy film — frosted, etched, decorative, and one-way reflective films for conference rooms, bathrooms, ground-floor windows, and office partitions.
- Decorative film — custom-cut frosted patterns, logos, and graphics for office glass walls and retail branding.
- Security and safety film — thick (typically 7-mil to 14-mil) polyester film that holds glass in place when it breaks, slowing forced-entry attempts and reducing injury from shattered glass.
- UV-blocking film — rejects 99% of UV radiation to protect art, furniture, flooring, and fabric from fading.
Brands and specs
We install industry-standard films from 3M, LLumar, Solar Gard, and Hanita. Typical residential solar film rejects 60-75% of total solar energy and blocks 99% of UV. Security films carry adhesive and tensile-strength ratings that match the threat level — anti-shatter, anti-graffiti, anti-forced-entry, or full bomb-blast film for sensitive sites.
Process
Every film install starts with a clean glass surface. We wet-squeegee the film to the interior lite, trim to the exact edge, and press out any air. Cure time depends on film and weather but is typically a few weeks for haze and water micro-bubbles to clear. Most installs carry a manufacturer warranty of 10 to 15 years for residential, shorter for commercial depending on exposure.
